～片腕の左腕「ジム・アボット」～
生まれつき右腕のなかったアボット。大リーグ入り一年目で１２勝をあげ驚かせた。９１年には１８勝をあげ、リーグ最高の左腕と言われた。９２年にはノーヒットノーランも達成。特筆すべきは打者としても２３打席に立ち、２本のヒットを打っていることだ。投球直後にグラブを左手にはめかえ、ふつうの投手と全くかわらないフィールディングをこなした。全てを問題文にはしていませんが,以下がアボットの残した言葉です。
